Invitation to Haiku
Within an hour after blasting out of the Los Angeles basin, phrases started coming into my head. I knew what they wanted to be; their 5 and 7 syllable forms told me.I amuse myself through hours at the wheel by playing with those syllables. And there's been no shortage of inspiration, both personal and natural. Here's an example, written as I drove out of California Gold Country on fragrant mountain roads:
Full heart swells upstream
Rebel tears escape the dam
Hot pine dust pure joy
And, of course, I must praise my trusty steed, Ethel....
Columbia Gorge
Whipping whistling howling wind
Ethel is sturdy
I'm aiming for a haiku a day. Will you post your syllable play too?
I'll also post occasional prose accounts of my adventures, along with photos, when I get this Blackberry tethering thing figured out.
